The Loleighan Calendar
(Low-ly-an)
<---Home

      The Loleighan Calendar, named after Lolita Leigh Smith, makes no attempt to be perfect. It merely stands to emphasize the difference between night and day. Because I have never understood this whole "one day becomes the next at midnight" thing. It's completely irrational. The units in the Loleighan calendar start by the sun and end by the sun. First Day begins at sunrise and ends at sunset, and so on.

      In the Loleighan calendar, there are...

* 730 units (typically called 'days' in other calendars)
* 365 of those units are days (that is, sunlight time)
* 365 of those units are nights
* 5 months in a Loleighan year, which consist of 146 units apiece
* 73 of the units in a month are days
* 73 of the units in a month are nights
* 121 weeks in a Loleighan year
* 6 units in a Loleighan week

      The 5 units in a Loleighan week are as follows:
* First Night
* First Day
* Second Night
* Second Day
* Third Night
* Third Day

      Every three years there is a 731st unit. It is called Extra Night.

      The names of the months are:
1. Dawnuary
2. Morningary
3. Dayuary
4. Duskuary
5. Nightuary

There exists also a simple Gregorian version of the Loleighan view of things. The only difference between the Loleighan version of the Gregorian calendar and the regular version of it is that the 7 units of the Gregorian week are divided thusly into:
* Sunday
* Sun Night
* Monday
* Moon Night
* Tuesday
* Tues Night
* Wednesday
* Woden's Night
* Thursday
* Thor's Night
* Friday
* Freya's Night
* Saturday
* Saturn's Night
